Award/Degree Online MBA

The Charles Sturt University Online MBA, offered through the University’s Faculty of Business, has been designed to provide busy professionals with a highly flexible and workplace focused course that can fit in with lifestyle goals and commitments.

The course is primarily available via distance education (online) or on campus through CSU’s Study Centres in Melbourne and Sydney. The course is available full-time (1.5 years) or part-time equivalent (3 years).

Most graduates are encouraged to continue living and working in the communities where they have studied to help combat skills shortage. At CSU there is a large emphasis placed on collaboration, good student experiences, flexibility, reliability, inclusivity and critical thinking.

CSU’s MBA program prides itself on being current and using industry professionals to ensure information is of a global quality. With a strong focus on management theory, graduates will be equipped to lead teams in a dynamic and changing world.

Charles Sturt University Online MBA Program Structure

The standard MBA consists of 12 subjects, totalling 96 credit points. To graduate, students must complete four core subjects, four out of 10 “Restricted Elective Subjects” subjects and four specialised electives. There are also the options of completing a specialised degree in computing, or law enforcement and security, that consist of 16 subjects, or 128 credit points.

The core subjects are:

  • Management, Theory and Practice
  • Marketing Management
  • Accounting & Financial Management
  • Strategic Management

The four foundation subjects can be chosen from the following 10:

  • Business Economics
  • Corporate Finance
  • Human Resource Management
  • Operations Management
  • Research Methods
  • Contemporary Issues in Leadership
  • Management of Change
  • Ethics of Corporate Governance
  • Project Management
  • Managing for Sustainability

Students undertaking the MBA can choose from a range of specialisations:

  • Educational Leadership
  • Finance
  • Human Resource Management
  • Information Technology
  • Leadership
  • Marketing
  • Public Sector Management
  • Sustainability

The way the subjects have been designed is to give students the flexibility to tailor their degree to meet their needs or aspirations. This way graduates can choose to concentrate on areas of economics, education, human resources, IT, or marketing.

The program is broken into three trimesters per year – starting in February, July and December – allowing enthusiastic students to complete their degree within this time.

Alternatively, students can complete as little as one subject per trimester, allowing them to graduate after four years. CSU estimates it will take between 140 to 160 hours to complete each subject.
